Materiality(Priority Issues)
We recognize that addressing sustainability-related issues is a critical management challenge. By proactively and continuously working toward their resolution, we aim to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and enhance our corporate value over the medium to long term.
In August 2022, we established the Sustainability Strategy Committee with the aim of identifying key sustainability issues (hereinafter referred to as "materiality"), examining response policies and strategies, supporting and monitoring business divisions, and collecting relevant information company-wide.
The committee is chaired by the President and Representative Director, who concurrently serves as the officer in charge of sustainability strategy. Its members consist of our Directors, Executive Officers, and Department Heads, with Outside Directors participating as observers.
At this committee, we formulate basic policies from a medium- to long-term and multi-stakeholder perspective on sustainability issues such as climate change, environmental concerns, respect for human rights, social contribution, and diversity.
We also deliberate on response policies and strategies for materiality, monitor the progress of implementation plans in each department, and provide recommendations to the Management Meeting, thereby taking a company-wide approach to tackling sustainability-related challenges.

Response To Climate Change(TCFD)

Information Disclosure in Accordance with TCFD Recommendations
Climate change is recognized globally as one of the most critical sustainability issues, as evidenced by the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Climate Pact (COP26) in November 2021, which aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels through the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Our Group also regards climate change as a significant management issue. We are working to reduce GHG emissions in our business operations to contribute to achieving a +1.5°C world. Moreover, we recognize that our core reuse business contributes to the formation of a circular society and helps reduce GHG emissions in society. As a group, we are committed to contributing to the environment through our business activities.
In August 2023, our Group expressed support for the TCFD, which requires the disclosure of the impact of climate change-related risks and opportunities on business activities and medium- to long-term business strategies. Based on the TCFD recommendations, we are working to enhance both the quality and quantity of climate change-related dis
Governance
To promote company-wide management with sustainability in mind, including responses to materiality issues such as climate change and SDGs, our Sustainability Strategy Committee identifies climate-related risks and opportunities, examines response policies and strategies, monitors the progress of implementation plans in each department, shares activity updates with the Management Meeting as needed, and ensures that the Board of Directors discusses and supervises these issues.
Risk Management
Our Group identifies risks and opportunities arising from the impact of climate change through scenario analysis and hearings with business units. The Sustainability Strategy Committee evaluates the importance of all recognized risks, including those beyond climate change, identifies them, and formulates response policies and strategies.
Identified risks and their response policies are shared with the Risk Management Committee, which holds monthly meetings to communicate with responsible managers overseeing relevant departments and considers specific countermeasures for critical risks. Regular reporting from the Risk Management Committee to the Sustainability Strategy Committee ensures a company-wide risk management framework.
Strategy
Our Group identifies and considers countermeasures for important climate-related risks and opportunities that are reasonably expected to affect business models, strategies, cash flows, financing, and capital costs over the short, medium, and long term due to the impact of climate change.
Indicators and goals
To assess and manage risks and opportunities arising from climate change, our Group calculates and discloses greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on the GHG Protocol.
Keeping in mind the transition to a carbon-neutral society, we also set quantitative targets for GHG emission reductions and the introduction of renewable energy, and monitor progress through the Sustainability Strategy Committee.
