BOOKOFF Group: Entering a New Stage to Shape the Next Decade

BOOKOFF began in 1990 with a modest 35-tsubo (approximately 115 square meters) space in a residential neighborhood of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Today, we have grown into a corporate group with over 800 stores in Japan and abroad and consolidated net sales exceeding 100 billion yen. We are deeply grateful for your continued support over the years.

Based on the corporate philosophy of “contributing to society through our business activities” and “the pursuit of employees’ material and spiritual wellbeing,” the Group conducts operations with a mission to “be a source of an enjoyable and prosperous life for as many people as possible,” focusing on three core businesses: BOOKOFF operations in Japan, the Premium Services Business, and the Overseas Business.
In recent years, as attention to sustainability has grown, we believe that the reuse business, our Group’s area of operations, supports people’s lives, provides enjoyment, and helps conserve resources by circulating and reusing items previously used by consumers. By extending the lifespan of products, it also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions from disposal.
Expanding our business operations and increasing our scale contributes to the formation of a circular society and to the realization of sustainability in society.

In this business environment, the Group has positioned the coming decade as a new phase of growth and formulated a medium-term management policy through to the fiscal year ending May 2028.
Building on the stable earnings of our core domestic BOOKOFF operations in Japan, and with the Premium Services business and Overseas business as new pillars of growth, we aim to evolve from “BOOKOFF—more than just books” to the “BOOKOFF Group—more than just BOOKOFF.”
While continuing to uphold the management philosophy and people-focused approach to human resource development we have valued to date, we will make full use of our strengths—our people, customer base, store network, and brand recognition—to expand our reuse business domain, and create a corporate group that continually takes on diverse challenges to achieve sustainable growth.
