BOOKOFF Group: Entering a New Stage to Shape the Next Decade
BOOKOFF began in 1990 with a modest 35-tsubo (approximately 115 square meters) space in a residential neighborhood of Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Today, we have grown into a corporate group with over 800 stores in Japan and abroad and consolidated net sales exceeding 100 billion yen. We are deeply grateful for your continued support over the years.
Based on the corporate philosophy of “contributing to society through our business activities” and “the pursuit of employees’ material and spiritual wellbeing,” the Group conducts operations with a mission to “be a source of an enjoyable and prosperous life for as many people as possible,” focusing on three core businesses: BOOKOFF operations in Japan, the Premium Services Business, and the Overseas Business.
As the reuse market continues to grow, the expansion of the Group’s business contributes to the formation of a circular economy and to the realization of a more sustainable society.
In this business environment, the Group has positioned the coming decade as a new phase of growth and formulated a medium-term management policy through to the fiscal year ending May 2028.Under this policy, the Group aims to maximize the value of its strengths, including human resources, customer base, store network, and brand recognition. While maintaining stable earnings from its core business, BOOKOFF operations in Japan, the Group seeks to place the Premium Services Business and Overseas Business on new growth trajectories and take on the challenge of developing new businesses, thereby promoting reuse as a lifestyle and enhancing the value of the reuse industry itself.
Through this new phase of growth and continuous efforts to take on challenges, the Group aims to evolve from “BOOKOFF, not just about books” to “BOOKOFF Group, more than just BOOKOFF.”
